If you have a few United miles knocking about already, then you can add an extra 1,000 by signing up to a new social media service and linking a Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare account.

I used a mailinator account (thanks, Raffles), but no confirmations were sent out. I went back to check my settings within Twitter, Foursquare and Facebook to make sure that the app did as little damage as possible to my accounts/reputation.

martindeutsch says: It seems to be 400 points for signing up for the service (which post to MileagePlus instantly), plus 200 more for each of Twitter, Foursquare and Facebook. When you go through the step to connect to your Facebook profile, probably best to set it so that posts it makes are viewable by ‘only me’, to prevent it spamming your friends. There’s a further 25 points for liking BCKSTGR (what a terrible name!) on Facebook, and nothing to stop you immediately unliking them afterwards.
