£10 discount on Amex Gift Cards – good for hitting your ‘minimum spend’

I wrote about Amex’s new gift cards recently. They are poor value for money, but have one great advantage – they are a relatively cheap way of getting to the minimum spend requirement on your BA Amex or Amex Preferred Rewards Gold.
Amex has now emailed me with details of a special deal for cardholders who buy one.
- If you spend £40-99 on gift cards, you get a £5 statement credit
- If you spend £100+, you get a £10 statement credit
You can only get the discount by buying via this website. The promo is not mentioned here, though.
It is hardly a great deal, given that you need to pay postage and the card issuance fee (nearly £10 between them) but it does help get through another £100 towards your minimum spend if that is an issue for you.
The email says ‘Offer exclusive to American Express proprietary Cards’ which I assume means Platinum, Gold and Green plus BA, Nectar, Harrods, SPG and Costco cards.
You need to order by 1st January to get the statement credit. It doesn’t say it is limited to one credit per card, but you should assume it is.
