750 Clubcard points for joining Tesco Wine Select

Tesco is currently running a promotion for joining Tesco Wine Select.

This is not the greatest deal ever, but if you are stocking up for Christmas it is worth a look.

Tesco Wine Select is, basically, a no-commitment wine club.  If you join and stay a member, you will be offered a 12-bottle case of wine every 3 months which you can choose to buy or reject.

However, that is the boring bit.  What is more interesting is the sign-up offer!

Tesco is offering a 40% discount plus 750 Clubcard points on your first case of wine.  This is good for 1,800 Avios points or 1,875 Virgin miles.  If you remain a member you will receive a further 250 Clubcard points on your 2nd, 3rd and 4th cases, but if you are in it only for the points then you will probably want to cancel after the first case.

The cases on offer vary from £60-£70 and you can choose from white, red or mixed cases.  Wine, of course, is always difficult to value so it is impossible to tell whether the wine would represent fair value for money at its full price and, therefore, whether the 40% ‘discount’ offers genuine value.

However, at the end of the day, your first case will only cost you around £5 per bottle, including delivery.  And you get your 750 Clubcard points on top!  If you need to stock up on wine for Christmas, this is probably not a bad deal.
