Tesco Clubcard has had a relationship with utility company E.ON for some time, although it was not hugely exciting.
The two have now revived their relationship, however, with a (disappointingly complex) new offer. Full details can be found here, and to quote:
E.ON want to reward their most loyal customers; if you’ve been a customer for more than 1 year, they’ll thank you with a loyalty reward that grows with time – up to a maximum of 3 years. So after you’ve been with E.ON for 1 year:
- Over the next year (Year 1) you’ll earn an E.ON reward of £10 or 1000 Clubcard points
- Over the following year (Year 2) you’ll earn £15 or 1500 Clubcard points
- And once you’re into Year 3 you’ll earn £20 or 2000 Clubcard points
You can also pick up these great E.ON rewards too:
- £10, or 1000 Clubcard points, if you manage your E.ON account online
- £10, or 1000 Clubcard points, for being a Dual Fuel customer
Please note: all rewards are paid throughout the year, and not as a lump sum.
So … if you sign-up today with E.ON and take the dual fuel deal and manage your account online, then you will earn 3,000 Clubcard points in the first year, increasing to 4,000 in Year 3. 3,000 Clubcard points is worth 7,200 Avios points or 7,500 Virgin Flying Club miles at the standard rate.
It is impossible to say if E.ON is the best deal for you, as prices are different across the country. There are various online tools which can help you find the best deal, outlined in this moneysavingexpert page.
E.ON is one of the few utilities who do not offer a fat Quidco cashback package which also counts against their pricing. However, if it works for you given your gas and electricity usage mix and geographic location, then it is worth a look.
