One of my favourite loyalty credit cards gets even better

If you have been reading Head for Points for a while, you will realise that I am very keen on the Hilton HHonors Platinum Visa credit card.

It is not the greatest card in the world for long-term spending, but the sign-up bonus is great. This is the standard package – you get a free night at any Hilton Group property just for spending £750 on the card within 90 days.

If you use this at a Conrad or Waldorf-Astoria hotel, you are likely to get over £200 in value from this. Importantly, the card is free with no annual fee.

The other short-term benefits are also OK, such as 2,500 bonus Hilton points for your first four stays charged to the card. Here is my full review.

In theory the link above is targetted to recipients of a mailshot. In reality, I am pretty sure anyone who uses it will get the extra 10,000 Hilton Hhonors points. You have nothing to lose, since the worst that can happen is that they give you the standard package you would have received anyway.

If you’ve been considering the Hilton card, now is as good a time to jump in as any. The issuer is Barclays, so it may clash with a Barclaycard or Priority Club credit card if you hold those.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (December 2021)

Did you know that the Virgin Atlantic credit cards are a great way of earning Hilton Honors points? Two Virgin Points can be converted into three Hilton Honors points. The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.

Don’t suppose anyone has heard how long you have to have cancelled the Hilton Visa card for, before you can apply again + earn another 1 night cert? (Unlike Amex, they don’t seem to list that in the small print)

I hold both the Priority Club Visa and this card so ,credit worthiness aside, there should be problems applying if you already have the PC card.

Shame I can’t go for this, but I think I may sign up my wife instead!

    It depends how Barclays treat people who want the PC and Hilton cards. If you got turned down, a quick call to Barclays offering to split your existing credit limit from the PC card across both cards should hopefully satisfy them.

  You can have however many the hotel allows in the room! 2 adults always OK. Basically, you will get the room category that Hilton Hhonors offers up for standard reward nights in whatever hotel you want.
  
  If you want to take a child, you may need to call the hotel first to check whether a rollaway bed will fit in a standard room. A cot is almost always OK.
  
  The free night is room only, so you need to pay for breakfast if you want it (but of course it is optional). We used our free night at the Waldorf-Astoria Syon Park outside London for a break with the kids- there is a pool, big grounds to explore and a kids play centre 2 minutes walk away. Was selling for about £200.
  
  If you can find a promotion somewhere offering a free trial of Hilton Gold status, that would get you free breakfast and free internet as well (except at Waldorf Astorias).

Both my partner and I have the HH card and the PC cards, seemed to be no problem for Barclays to give us both.
