Virgin Atlantic has launched an interesting promotion which will be of extra interest to those looking to renew or gain elite status with the airline.
There’s never been a more rewarding time to travel than now. For the first time ever we’re giving you the chance to earn 12 bonus tier points and up to 150% bonus Flying Club miles when you fly before 28 February 2013. That’s on top of the normal miles and tier points you’d earn, in whatever cabin you choose to fly in. So fly in Premium Economy or Upper Class and our generous cabin bonuses mean you’ll earn even more.
Here’s how it works: Earn 50% extra miles and 4 bonus tier points on your first round trip flight (or 2 bonus tier points on each leg). Earn 100% extra miles and 8 bonus tier points on your second round trip flight (or 4 bonus tier points on each leg). For example, if a Premium Economy return flight to New York would normally earn you 8 tier points, with our offer, you’ll now earn 12 tier points on your first flight, and 16 tier points on your second flight, if taken before 28 February 2013. That’s 28 tier points in total! With our recent £100 million worth of investment and our greatest offer yet, we wouldn’t want you to miss out. Register for the offer between 3 September and 15 October 2012, and before you take your flight, and let the rewards begin.
You need to register for the promotion here before 15th October, although you can fly up to 28th February.
Last year Virgin increased the number of tier points needed to retain Gold (40, up from 30) and Silver (15, up from 10), although it also brought in two extra benefits for high earners – 2 guest passes for Virgin Atlantic lounges at 60 tier points, and 2 one-cabin upgrade vouchers for reaching 80 tier points.
In some ways, this promotion offsets those increases if you take two return qualifying flights.
