News in brief:
1,000 Priority Club points for completing a survey
This link was found by a Flyertalk poster, offering 1,000 points for completing a (fairly) quick survey. I do not know where the link came from, or even if it is current (the link includes a date of 16 August 2012 so probably OK). It does not even work all the time and not at all on an ipad it seems. However, if you can get the link to work then it is worth the minute or so it takes to answer the questions.
Win 1 million Hilton points via Facebook
Follow this link and you can enter, once a day, a competition to win 1m Hilton points (20 free nights at their best hotels!). There are also daily prizes to be won. You need to fill in your Hilton data the first time you enter, but after that it is automatic.
1,000 Avios for buying 25 litres of Shell petrol
All avios.com members seem to have been emailed about this, but if you are only a British Airways Executive Club member you may have missed this. Details here. Assuming you have access to a Shell garage near you, it is worth joining avios.com to take part – you can move your points to BAEC afterwards using Combine My Avios.
Finally …
Some Tesco shoppers this week have been receiving a till spit with their receipts offering them a 4,500 Avios voucher if they switch their Clubcard earning preference to avios.com (NOT BAEC, please note).
The rules for this promo are at this link and when you read them, you can see the snag. I expect this offer to be promoted more widely after September 1st, the official launch date.
The 4,500 Avios points are in the form of a voucher, which can only be redeemed as part of a trip which includes 2 nights hotel accomodation. Taking the rules literally, you can also use it to book a hotel only trip as well, as long as it is for 2 nights.
This obviously reduces the value of the voucher considerably. On the other hand, if you were booking a weekend away on Avios then you may be able to use it, and of course it costs you nothing to set up (and later cancel) the auto opt-in.
As I will be transferring my next lot of Clubcard points to avios.com anyway, to benefit from the 2,000 Avios bonus with the ‘Get More’ promotion, then I will sign up for it. I will definitely cancel before the first set of 2013 Clubcard vouchers are issued, though.
