Two Tesco bonus point deals extended

Three weeks ago I wrote about four Tesco bonus point opportunities.

Two of these deals have been extended, albeit in a slightly different form.

Tesco Gold Exchange is now offering an improved 200 bonus points when you trade in 20g (was 15g with the old deal) of gold.  Gold must be received by 12th October.

Tesco Dental Insurance has also improved its bonus points, and is now offering 1,200 for new policy holders who sign up before 23rd October.  You can see my comments on this deal in the old post.

The Tesco Mobile promotion, offering up to 12,000 Clubcard points on a 24 month contract, is also still available on a few phones.

There are no other points-based insurance promotions at present that I can find.  The gift card promotion that I wrote about a couple of days ago is also continuing, deadline unknown.  I picked up a further £100-worth (in two transactions, obviously!) on Wednesday.

You don’t need to buy the gift cards in separate transactions. I bought £100 worth of them in a single transaction from an Express store and 300 points appeared on the receipt.

    • Far canel says:

gift cards are non refundable, so if the points do not post you are only stuck with £50 worth of cards to use, rather than £100

  • Goldealers says:

Hi there – Are you selling your gold for Points? or for Cash? Fact is that TescoGoldExchange are only paying £10.00 per gram for 9ct gold. You can quite easily get £12 per gram if you shop around. Now for 20g of 9ct gold, would you rather £200 + some points? or £240? From a Gold buyer who is tired of hearing of Tesco Recommendations when they quite simply are underpaying. http://goldealers.co.uk/2012/08/what-is-the-real-price-of-gold/

    • Raffles says:

I agree that Tesco is unlikely to offer the best price around. However, I’m sure you’d agree that they do put a marker in the ground for people to compare against, and their entry will hopefully squeeze out some of the rip off merchants who operate in this field. There is also a convenience factor involved which some people will value. If Tesco is only 20 per cent off the best price you could possibly get, given that the ‘best price’ would involve a lot more effort and research, I don’t consider that too bad.

      • Goldealers says:

If it’s convenience people want… The local jeweller will match or beat the price offered by Tesco/ramsdens.

Furthermore, 20% is a HUGE margin. Plus, if an item is not hallmarked, Tesco pay much less.

        100g of 9ct £1000 at Tesco.
        100g of 9ct £1200 with us.

        50g non-hallmarked 21ct gold (18ct paid) £1000 with Tesco
        50g non-hallmarked 21ct gold (21ct paid) £1400 with us.

In these tough economic times, Tesco are raking in serious profits – not helping.
