Congratulations if you got the Amex Gold with no fee and 20,000 sign-up points …

…. because Amex has just taken an axe to the sign-up bonus.

The deal for getting the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold card is now 10,000 Membership Rewards points (was 20,000).  These transfer at 1:1 to Avios, amongst other options.

It is still not a bad deal, of course, given there is no card fee for the first year.  However, if you were thinking of getting it then I would hold off for a few weeks as September may see a batch of new offers.
