40,000 Avios sign-up bonus for BA Premium Plus Amex card ends on Wednesday

The current bonus of 40,000 Avios points for signing up for the British Airways Premium Plus American Express card ends on 1st August. This is a fantastic offer, substantially more than the usual bonus of 18,000 Avios. If you have been thinking about getting the card then now is definitely the time.
This is the sign-up link. This link has been advertised on the ba.com home page (as a banner ad) for some weeks and does not seem to be targetted. I see it, for instance, and I wouldn’t if it was targetted as a) I already have the card and b) BA thinks I live in Germany!
You still need to pay the £150 annual fee but for 40,000 Avios it is still a good deal. You need to spend £3,000 on the card within 3 months to trigger the bonus, which some people report is posting as 18,000 Avios as soon as you hit £3,000 with the balance posting later.
Note that Amex states in other ads for the BA Premium Plus American Express card that a £30,000 household income is required.
