50% off Club Carlson redemptions and more

An email arrives from Club Carlson promoting 50% off selected redemptions for stays between 1st August and 30th September.  Theoretically, according to the rules, you need to use code 50REDEEM to see participating properties, but it was working for me without that when logged in.

I tried a few random dates in London and Paris and got nothing.  However, I tried Liverpool and got the Radisson Blu just 19,000 points per night which seems a good deal.  In Nottingham, the Park Inn was just 7,500 points per night.  Don’t get your hopes too high, but it is certainly worth a look if you have some stays planned anyway.  If only they provided a list of participating hotels ….

Two other promotions were also mentioned.  Code CCDOUBLEPOINTS is worth double points on your next stay of two or more nights at most of their brands.  Alternatively, FREEBRKT is good for a free breakfast rate at selected Radisson, Park Inn and Park Plaza properties. 

This latter code may be useful for someone doing a Park Plaza night purely to qualify for the current 50,000 bonus points promotion, although I have struggled to find a Park Plaza in the UK which is participating.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (December 2021)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.  These include:

• American Express Preferred Rewards Gold (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 20,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 60,000 Radisson Rewards points. This card is FREE for your first year and also comes with two free airport lounge passes.

• The Platinum Card from American Express (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 30,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 90,000 Radisson Rewards points

• American Express Rewards credit card (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 5,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 15,000 Radisson Rewards points. This card is FREE for life.

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Gold status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.
