    In theory you need matching address and surname but, as Dominic says below, other combo can work. It seems to partly depend whose account they are converted through – you may get a different response if you logged in yourself and tried to send them to your BA account, versus your friend logging in and trying to send to you.

    A guaranteed way is to open an avios.com account for your friend (same name and address as Tesco have), then change the address to yours, form an avios.com family account and then break up the avios.com family account. On break up, you can say how you want the miles split – you say you want 100% for you and 0% for your friend.

  John, I think it works if you go the BA route. Our Tesco Clubcard is in my wife’s name and the BA account is in my name, when we redeemed we simply entered my BA EC number and it was fine.

  Note this is *not* the same as Avios.com. If you use Tesco to buy Avios with that site it doesn’t give you an option to enter an Avios account number, and it just automatically set up my wife with a new account. Not a problem in my case since we later set up a HHA and moved them over but sounds like it wouldn’t work for you.

  I’ll be in France for this promotion. If I opt into autoconvert to BA miles in order to get the extra points will I then be able to opt out when I get back? Thanks

    Being in France is not a problem. Your voucher codes are now printed on the Clubcard website once processed, so you can cut and paste them from there onto the Clubcard Deals avios page. As long as you have internet access you’ll be fine.

    If you did what you suggested, you can turn off auto-convert. However, if you turn it on now it may not take effect in time for the August mailing – I seem to remember they have a long lead time.
